UPV Tacloban College bags championship at the 13th Alfredo M. Velayo Cup

Joining for the first time this year, the team from the Division of Management of the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) bagged the championship at the 2018 Alfredo M. Velayo (AMV) Cup.
Fifth year BS Accountancy (BSA) students Kim D. Limosnero, Louise Armani C. Espiritu, and Frances Josie P. Gilber bested 28 other participating teams from various Accountancy schools during the event held at the Velayo-SyCip Multipurpose Halls, University of Santo Tomas, España, Manila on February 4, 2018.
Coming in second and third place were teams from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and the Far Eastern University (FEU), respectively.
The winning team took home the AMV Cup revolving trophy, a cash prize amounting to P13,000, various books and reviewers, as well as plaques, medals, and certificates.
Now on its 13th year, the AMV Cup is an annual national quiz bee organized by the University of Santo Tomas Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy (UST AMV), in partnership with SGV & Co., the country’s largest professional services firm co-founded by Mr. Alfredo M. Velayo and Mr. Washington SyCip.
The organizers said the quiz bee “aims to gather the top accountancy students in the country to test their knowledge and generate camaraderie and healthy competition among them.
